It may just be one of the best-kept secrets in women’s fashion: dresses with pockets. With the need to carry multiple items daily, the lack of a functional place to tuck those necessities has long been a women’s lament. Enter dresseswithpockets.com, a commission-based site that features manufacturers that make dresses with functional pockets. And yes, they are out there — though finding them in a typical department store requires a hunt.

Dresseswithpockets.com has removed all of that with robust searching function, allowing shoppers to search for women’s, girls’ and plus-sized dresses, skirts, formal wear and wedding gowns. Once selected, the customer visits the retailer’s site to complete the purchase. Participating retailers include ModCloth, Nordstrom and Anthropologie.

Shoppers are urged to return with a review of the dress — including details about the pockets: Was the pocket size enough for a tube of lipstick, or could it handle a small tablet or large smartphone? Sharing that information goes a long way toward helping others make a decision, the company says, “and will eventually give us enough data to allow people to search by pocket size.”
