In a time when life — and travel — is all about the unique experience, French hotel group AccorHotels has introduced the Flying Nest, a minimalist and perfectly Instagrammable mobile hotel built from shipping containers. The eco-friendly spaces can be installed in places where, say, hotel capacity has reached a saturation point. The concept was initially tested for business clientele at French cultural, sporting and artistic events, but this year could extend to the consumer market.
The modules are designed by Ora-ïto using raw and natural materials, and are focused on sustainability and use of environmentally friendly techniques and equipment; they also operate using green energy.
Each Flying Nest “island” includes six modules (five guestrooms and one technical room) and requires only half a day for assembly. It will be fascinating to see if and how the concept takes flight — and how temporary retail spaces might follow suit.
