Kronos Inc. and IBM Watson are collaborating to help improve “the engagement, performance, career development and retention of hourly workers and simplify the complex task of managing this important segment of the global workforce.”
And why not? Tasks such as shift scheduling, personalized training recommendations and career coaching all take time and effort; Kronos cited stats from the U.S. Department of Labor that 58 percent of U.S. workers aged 16 and older — that’s more than 80 million people — are hourly.
Handling these things through Watson Career Coach technology, leveraging Kronos’ Workforce Dimensions data, could be a boon. All of it is powered by Watson AI and accessible via mobile devices. Surely, such a chatbot can give great career advice. Whether it’s as effective as a human alternative — if that’s indeed still happening — remains to be seen.
