A new sort of southern hospitality

When the buzz from Nashville includes mention of country stars and food, it typically means the opening of another celebrity-backed restaurant and/or bar (consider Florida Georgia Line’s FGL House; Blake Shelton’s Ole Red; Alan Jackson’s AJ’s Good Time Bar; etc.)

But things are a little bit different for Brad Paisley and his wife, Kimberly Williams-Paisley. Inspired by a family trip to the Unity Shoppe in Santa Barbara, Calif., the family is planning to open a free grocery in conjunction with Brad Paisley’s Nashville-based alma mater, Belmont University. The Store will be a food bank set up like a supermarket, serving fresh and nonperishable groceries to people in need for one year. If proper funds are raised, construction is expected to begin in 2019.
