A new kind of “special sauce”

It’s perfectly OK if you would like something other than fries with that. McDonald’s is now enticing Chicago diners to sample the restaurant chain’s favorites from other parts of the world. As of April, a new McDonald’s location includes a burger from Canada, a spicy chicken sandwich from Hong Kong, loaded fries from Australia, two salads from France and a soft-serve ice cream treat from Brazil in its first menu rotation. The more than 6,000-square-foot restaurant is on the ground floor of the company’s new corporate headquarters in the West Loop neighborhood. It’s part of the McDonald’s Experience of the Future (EOTF) restaurants, with table service, outdoor seating, global-inspired interiors, mobile order and payment and more. The plan is that most U.S. McDonald’s locations will be EOTF restaurants by 2020.
