Makeup touchups are going one step further, thanks to Alibaba and Chinese shopping mall chain InTime. Now those in the mall’s restroom can virtually try on different makeup looks in an augmented reality mirror, then purchase the items they like from a vending machine nearby using a mobile QR code. Brands represented include the likes of Benefit, Lancome and Shu Uemura.
It’s a fun and creative use of a magic mirror, but there is one potential downside: What will it do to the long lines of people already waiting to get in?
